On one hand, I appreciate the customer service and effort the seller is providing in trying to find more information about the package, but on other hand, I don't want to keep reading "wait a few more days" and the package never arrives. I'm a little torn on how/when to proceed. Once the evidence was presented to the seller, he paid me to return the item (which I received a couple days later), the Chicago buyer to return the item that was supposed to come to me and then shipped them 2 day to each of us refunding the original shipping. Apparently what happened was when the seller sent the items, the post office put the wrong tracking number on my package and my tracking number on the package intended for Chicago. In the picture I could read the tracking number and see that the address was an address in Chicago, not Pennsylvania. They had scans of all the packages and he sent me pictures of the item that was scanned and delivered matching the tracking number. I called the post office in Chicago and spoke to a postal worker who forwarded me to someone who could investigate. I contacted the seller and they tried to contact the post office to no avail. The worst scenario I had was a case where my package was delivered to a random address in Chicago. All of this is out of the sellers control. I've had items take as long as a week to go from USPS station to USPS station. I wouldn't go forward with the not delivered case yet as I've had items take as long as 3 weeks to arrive. If I'm reading the post correctly, the item is only 5 days late and not marked as delivered. If it hasn't arrived today, I would probably file personally.

In transit arriving late how to#
Since you have 30 days to file, I would wait a couple of days beyond the guaranteed date to see if it arrives to know how to file with ebay. It seems that you might be likely to be refunded the shipping fee (assuming it arrives) but that is not guaranteed explicitly. You must respond within 30 days of guaranteed date as stated. Ebay does not guarantee much on its website other than they will look into it. It seems that you would simply file with ebay and they would let you know how they will handle. Oops sorry I misunderstood and didn't read your OP regarding Ebay after the other posts regarding shipping. If I don't receive the package by Friday and the seller makes a claim with USPS, how will that affect me? Some listing on eBay offer "guaranteed delivery." I have purchased items on eBay shipped in first class envelopes with no tracking with "guaranteed delivery." Otherwise, the date is just an arbitrary one. I assume you mean "Priority Mail Express" as that is the only shipping category that I know of with a "money back guarantee". If eBay does not find in my favor and I never receive the item, I am out what I paid for the item.ĮBay is covering the costs, not the sellers directly, to my understanding (only in a guaranteed delivery situation). If I never get my item, and eBay finds in my favor, the seller has to refund because of the postal service's incomplete delivery, which is unfortunate for the seller. Trying to look at it from a unbiased perspective, it seems like a lose-lose situation for both. If I open up a case in the resolution center for item not received, will eBay find in my favor on an item that shows "In Transit-Arriving Late?" I don't want to inform eBay about the Guaranteed Delivery date being missed because the item hasn't arrived yet and a $5 eBay voucher is way less than what I paid for the item.
In transit arriving late free#
On items that had free shipping, I have chosen the $5 eBay voucher option for the item arriving past the delivery date. I have had items delivered to me past the Guaranteed Delivery date, but the tracking is always detailed every step of the way.
In transit arriving late full#
I received a credit for the full value of the item, both times. Open a claim on eBay and they will process. Good luck collecting on the "Guaranteed Delivery"Īctually, it is very easy. What is the future likelihood that I will receive the item? According to the USPS tracking, it states "In Transit-Arriving Late" and the last scan was at a regional original facility in a major city about 50 miles from the seller's location. I purchased an item on eBay mailed by First Class Package that had a "Guaranteed Delivery" date of yesterday that has not arrived yet.
